ስለ እኛ
የኢትዮጵያ ብሔራዊ ቴአትር (ቀድሞ አፄ ኃይለ ሥላሴ ቴአትር) በ1948 ዓ.ም (1955 እ.ኤ.አ) በአፄ ኃይለ ሥላሴ የንግሥ በዓል 25ኛ ዓመት የብር ኢዮቤልዩ መታሰቢያነት ተመሰረተ። ተቋሙ በመጀመሪያ በጣሊያን ወረራ ወቅት "ሲኒማ ማርኮኒ" በሚል ስም በ250 ወንበሮች ተጀምሮ የነበረ ሲሆን፣ በኋላም ወደ 1,260 ተመልካቾችን ወደሚይዝ ታላቅ የጥበብ መድረክ አድጓል። ዛሬም በአዲስ አበባ መሀል የሚገኝ ቀዳሚ የጥበብ እና የባህል ማዕከል ነው።
ቴአትር ቤቱ በሁለት ዋና ዋና ዘርፎች ማለትም በቴአትር እና በሙዚቃ ዳይሬክቶሬት የተከፈለ ነው። እንደ ዕዝራ የሕዝብ ሙዚቃና ውዝዋዜ ቡድን፣ የያሬድ ዘመናዊ ኦርኬስትራ እና የዳዊት ፖፕ ኦርኬስትራ ያሉ ታዋቂ የጥበብ ቡድኖችን ይዟል። በአሁኑ ወቅት ተቋሙ በ1.5 ቢሊዮን ብር ወጪ የ12 ፎቅ አዲስ ዋና መሥሪያ ቤት ግንባታና እድሳት እያከናወነ ይገኛል። እንዲሁም የ70 ዓመት የጥበብ ጉዞውን በማሰብ አዲስ የፎቶና የአልባሳት ሙዚየም በማደራጀት ታሪኩን በማስተዋወቅ ላይ ይገኛል።
